National Institute of Silicosis

The National Institute of Silicosis (I.N.S.) established in 1970 is a unit of National Reference for Occupational Respiratory Diseases Origin.
Silicosis Hospital joined the hospital central complex of Asturias ( HUCA ) (HUCA) in 1990.

The Institute consists of two main departments: Technical Prevention and and Occupational Pneumology Service.

The activity of I.N.S. It is linked to its mission, focused on the technical and medical prevention, teaching, research and consultancy on silicosis, pneumoconiosis and other diseases other inhalation.

Currently has a dedicated building for the Technical Department at the premises of NEW HUCA, as well as a distinct focus on certain aspects of care, within the new hospital.
